Founded on a simple observation: most marine hardware was built for a different era.

In 2011, Tom Walczak was traveling in Maui when he noticed the propulsion systems in Lahaina harbor. The hardware was outdated, the engineering documentation sparse, and the vendors supplying it were either too large to care or too small to certify. That gap was the founding thesis for Green Star Marine: B2B marine buyers don't need a large engineering firm with offshore project management and long response chains. They need a technical team that responds directly, understands the regulatory environment, and delivers a complete documentation package that survives port state control inspection.

GSM is based in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, and works with clients across marine, defense, and land applications. The "808" in gsm808.com is a nod to that Hawaiian origin. What hasn't changed: every product and system we develop is built to the tightest applicable standard. If it passes USCG and ISO review, it survives anything.

We don't serve the recreational market. We don't build retail products. Our clients are shipbuilders, fleet operators, naval architects, and marine system integrators who need a development partner with an engineering record, not a catalog vendor with a sales team.
